Things aren’t going swimmingly for General Hospital‘s Esme Prince, what with her ongoing disagreements with ex-beau Spencer over her desire to uproot herself and her son, but luckily waters are much smoother for her real-life counterpart, Avery Kristen Pohl.
And that’s because she was born on November 21, 2001, which means that this talented performer is turning 22 years old today! The Florida native’s first acting credit was the short film Special Delivery followed closely by the sci-fi-tinged psychical thriller Sound of My Voice.
Pohl appeared in further shorts — The Bard, Fairy Wings, The Warrior’s Daughter, Runaway Renn, et. al — guest starred in a number of primetime TV programs including Criminal Minds and New Hardy Boys, and appeared in several made-for-TV movies — such as Expecting Amish and My Daughter’s Psycho Friend (yes, she was the psycho friend) — and features like The Shells.
Despite being an admitted novice when it comes to the soap genre, Pohl began submitting audition tapes. As she explained to Soap Opera Digest, “I had never had a soap opera audition until quarantine, and then I had two, one of which my friend Madison Thompson ended up booking. I think GENERAL HOSPITAL was my third soap audition ever…”
The third time proved to be the charm, at Pohl joined the cast of the lone ABC soap on August 16, 2021. Since then, her character has evolved from an out-and-out villainess to an amnesiac struggling to do her best.
In addition to her skills as an actress, Pohl is a trained ballerina. She’s also proficient in stage combat and has participated in several stunt courses.
