She is one of Robert Scorpio’s two greatest loves, so General Hospital’s Holly Sutton is certainly in good company — and she even liked Anna Devane, the “other woman.” Actress Emma Samms is celebrating a special milestone.
Happy Birthday, Emma Samms!
And that’s because she was born on August 28, 1960, in London, England, which means that this talented veteran actress just turned 63 years old! Samms originally trained to be a ballet dancer, but once affected by injury, she turned to acting.
She made her professional debut in the fantasy film Arabian Adventure, and she subsequently appeared in the two-part TV movie Goliath Awaits. Between 1982 and 1985, Samms played Holly Sutton on GH.
Initially a love interest for Anthony Geary’s Luke Spencer, Samms’s character was eventually paired opposite Tristan Rogers’s Robert Scorpio — a coupling that earned the soap significant praise.
At the end of her initial tenure with the soap, Samms joined the cast of the primetime serial Dynasty as Fallon Carrington, a role previously helmed by Pamela Sue Martin. Soon after her introduction, Samms was transplanted to the Dynasty spinoff The Colbys.
That program aired for two seasons (culminating in a series finale that saw Fallon abducted by aliens while waylaid in the California desert), and Samms returned to Dynasty for its final two seasons.
Samms’s other acting credits include a recurring role in Aaron Spelling’s Models INC., as well as guest spots on Murder, She Wrote, Newhart, Get a Life, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and British soap operas, such as Holby City, Doctors, and Casualty. She has also made numerous guest appearances on GH, beginning with a three-week story arch in the summer of 2006.
