On General Hospital, Cameron Mathison certainly has a great deal to celebrate, especially now that Drew Cain has declared his love for Carly Spencer despite being in Pentonville. That couple has fans excited, as should the milestone being recognized by the actor.
That’s because he was born on August 25, 1969, in Sarnia, Ontario, which means that this fan favorite is turning 54 years old today! Upon graduating from Montreal’s McGill University, Mathison began working as a model and soon turned his attention toward acting.
He appeared in several commercials in Canada, the U.S., and Europe and made his feature film debut in the 1998 drama 54 — the story of New York City’s infamous discotheque that also co-starred Sherry Stringfield (ex-Blake, Guiding Light). One year earlier, he had appeared in the made-for-TV movie Any Mother’s Son.
Between January 12, 1998, and 2011, Mathison starred on All My Children as Ryan Lavery. For his work on the venerable soap, Mathison received a number of award nominations, including two for Outstanding Supporting Actor at the Daytime Emmys.
Mathison’s other acting credits include guest spots on F/X: The Series, The Job, The Drew Carey Show, CSI, JAG, Would I Lie to You, Desperate Housewives, Drop Dead Diva, Hot in Cleveland, and The Exes.
He had a recurring role on the sitcom Hope & Faith — which starred AMC alum Kelly Ripa — and between 2015 and 2017, he played a lead role in the five films that comprised the Murder She Baked franchise (which starred Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney). After a four-year hiatus, more were added, and it was announced in June of 2023, that the two will be shooting the eighth installment.
Cameron Mathison is the former host of series such as I Wanna Be A Soap Star, Your Place or Mine, Game of Homes, The Annual Instant Beauty Pageants, and Good Morning America; and until 2021 as the co-host of Home and Family. He is also a full-time correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.
Mathison has been married to model Vanessa Marie Arevalo since July 27, 2002. The couple has two children: a son, Lucas (born April 20, 2003), and a daughter, Leila (born July 7, 2006).
