Lately, Felicia is figuring out her place at General Hospital in her new job but is making mistakes. Her portrayer on the other hand, actress Kristina Wagner, has far more reason to celebrate.
That’s because she was born on October 30, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, which means that this talented performer is turning 61 years old today! Wagner became interested in the performing arts at a young age and enrolled in many acting, dance, and elocution classes, hoping to hone her skills and one day succeed in the “business.”
While pursuing her theater degree at Indiana Central University, Wagner appeared in commercials for local businesses. On the advice of her brother, she sent her headshot and resume to a modeling/talent scouting agency, which resulted in auditions for two New York-based soap operas — All My Children and Ryan’s Hope.
During her junior year of college, Wagner — on a whim — made the three-hour trek from her school to Chicago where representatives from General Hospital were holding auditions. After driving back home, she received word that the series wanted her back the next day for another read-through. The near round trip — and her obvious talent netted Wagner a part on the ABC soap.
After relocating to Los Angeles, she debuted as Felicia Cummings and was immediately thrust into a romantic pairing opposite Jack Wagner’s Frisco Jones. The coupling was extremely popular, and within a few years, the pair were married.
Real life mirrored reel life when Wagner accepted her co-star’s proposal, and they, too, married. The union produced two children — sons Peter and Harrison — and ended in divorce in 2006.
Wagner remained on GH as a contract player — aside from an eight-month hiatus in 1991 — for 19 years, finally calling it quits in 2003. She returned the next year briefly in a recurring capacity but again exited after disagreements with producers.
Aside from a brief return in 2007, Wagner stayed away from the series until 2012, when she accepted an offer to return as part of the show’s 50th anniversary. Luckily, she returned on contract in late 2021 and now is in the thick of things where she belongs.
