General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini Celebrates His Birthday

Following the news that One Life to Live was being canceled, Frank Valentini, the show’s executive producer in 2011, moved from Llanview to Port Charles, becoming the showrunner of General Hospital, where he’s been working his magic ever since. And now, he’s celebrating something special!

Valentini celebrates his birthday today, and he’s turning 61 years old. The producer/director worked at OLTL from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s as the show’s stage manager.

Next, he became the soap’s associate producer before moving up to producer in 1995. He became OLTL’s executive producer in 2003 and remained in that spot until the show left the airwaves in early 2012.

Valentini is widely acknowledged (along with former head writer Ron Carlivati) with saving GH from cancellation just as the team of the late Gloria Monty, producer, and the late Douglas Marland, head writer, had saved the show from being axed in the late 1970s.

Valentini has won three Daytime Emmys for directing General Hospital (2016, 2017 and 2020) and two for Outstanding Drama Series (2017 and 2021). In 2011, he won the Daytime Emmy for New Approaches for the What If…series in which characters from GH, OLTL, and All My Children encountered each other in an elevator. Valentini won Daytime Emmys for OLTL in 2008 and 2009 (Outstanding Directing Team for a Drama Series) and in 2002 (Outstanding Drama Series).
