Don’t cry for her daytime fans. Though Vinessa Antoine vacated the role of General Hospital’s Jordan Ashford — AKA Port Charles’s top cop — she did so in order to star in her very own Canadian series. But that’s not the only milestone that Antoine should be celebrating.
And that’s because she was born on July 21, 1983, in Toronto, Ontario, which means that this talented actress is turning 40 years old today! Antoine originally trained to become a prima ballerina (beginning her classic ballet training at 4 years of age) but three years into her studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, she decided to focus her efforts on becoming an actress.
Her career was launched in 1996, thanks to the short film Love Taps and she subsequently appeared in the made-for-TV film Annie O and the feature Picture This. Between 2001 and 2002, Antoine had a recurring role in the Showtime series Soul Food.
Guest-starring roles on The Unit and ReGenesis followed, as did a recurring role in Heartland and a starring part in Being Erica, a science fiction/fantasy comedy-drama. Between 2014 and 2018, Antoine played Jordan Ashford on General Hospital.
As Jordan, Antoine went from playing a woman who seemed like a mob moll to police commissioner who started a romance with former brother-in-law, Curtis. (She was actually an undercover DEA agent the whole time she seemed to be working for Julian.)
In 2019, Antoine headlined the Canadian legal drama Diggstown for the entire four season-run. Her other acting credits include a guest spot on NCIS, The Resident, and So Help Me Todd, recurring roles in the supernatural drama Haven and the show Ginny & Georgia, and the TV movie A Day Late and a Dollar Short.
Soap Hub would like to wish Vinessa Antoine a very happy birthday and many more.
