A lot of major moments in Port Charles have happened on Halloween — Carly’s regrettable almost-wedding to Franco, AJ’s return from the dead, and, of course, Sam’s tragic death. While not all of these need to be remembered on October 31, this year, we worried that General Hospital forgot a major event that affects several characters, but thankfully, they didn’t.
Key Takeaways
- October 31, 2025, marked one year since Cyrus murdered Sam.
- October 31 is Maxie’s birthday.
- While GH remembered Sam on the anniversary of her death, it almost seemed like no one would mention it being the comatose Maxie’s birthday. Then, they did.
One Year Since Sam’s Death
Halloween has been lingering on in Port Charles, seemingly starting on Halloween and lasting throughout this week. Port Charles has certainly had its spooky moments this Halloween, from all of The Quartermaines walking out on Tracy (Jane Elliot) to Anna (Finola Hughes) being abducted after feeling Faison’s (Anders Hove) presence.
Fortunately for long-time viewers, GH didn’t forget that this Halloween marks the one-year anniversary of Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) death. The November 5 episode (which is still Halloween in Port Charles) featured both Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Scout (Cosette Abinante) mourning their mom. Scout revealed she used to love Halloween until what happened, while Danny worried he let his mom down by not being able to be there for his sister, thanks to Drew (Cameron Mathison).
Happy Birthday, Maxie
We worried that GH would forget that Halloween doubles as Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) birthday. Mariah Maximiliana “Maxie” Jones was born on Halloween Day in 1990 (later changed to 1986) to Frisco (Jack Wagner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner), and named after her great-grandmother, Mariah (the late June Lockhart).

While Maxie’s birthday isn’t mentioned every year, this year was the perfect opportunity for her loved ones to be thinking of her as she resides in a Boston hospital in a coma. Felicia, Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), Nathan (Ryan Paevey), and James (Gary James Fuller) were all together at Bobbie’s on Halloween night, and ultimately they had a cake. Whew! It turns out they didn’t forget Maxie’s birthday after all.

Did you remember that Halloween is Maxie’s birthday?
