General Hospital Fans Want This Soap Alum To Replace Chad Duell As Michael

After the news of Chad Duell’s exit from General Hospital broke, GH fans flocked to social media to suggest what actors could take his place as Michael — and spoiler alert: we all know them!

From Genoa City to Port Charles

While GH’s executive producer Frank Valentini revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that they don’t plan on recasting the character at this time, many viewers responded hoping to change his mind. The most popular choice of recast became Robert Adamson, who soap fans not only remember as Noah on The Young and the Restless, but as Duell’s temporary recast off and on since 2022.

“Is it too soon to ask if Robert Adamson is available to be the new Michael?” one viewer wrote following Duell’s announcement, while another posted, “With Chad Duell leaving #GH, the best recast for Michael is an actor who has stepped in several times before: Robert Adamson.”

Many viewers also noted Adamson’s chemistry with Duell’s on-screen wife. “If the role is recast, give it to Robert Adamson . . . without auditioning others. He is fantastic and works well with MacMullen. #justsayin,” one wrote, though Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) affair with Drew (Cameron Mathison) could easily lead to the character’s exit. “I would love to see Robert Adamson in the part, I thought he did a great job plus he and Katelyn have great chemistry,” another said.

Blast from the Past

Another option fans suggested was Drew Garrett, who GH viewers may remember as the actor who previously played Michael. Garrett played the character for a year before Duell stepped into the role in 2010.

“I wish Drew Garret would come back. I like Robert Adamson, but I hated losing Drew Garrett more,” a viewer confessed, while another posted, “All I want to know is if Drew Garrett has been called and if he is available to reprise.”

One viewer ranked their choice of actors, including another Y&R alum many may remember. “First Choice Drew Garrett, Second Choice Robert Adamson, Third choice Zach Tinker.” Tinker played Fen on Y&R, then headed to Salem when Sonny was recast in Beyond Salem and A Very Salem Christmas before he secured the role on Days of our Lives from 2022-2023.
