On the 28th anniversary of the primetime drama he starred in, reports surfaced that Savannah star David Gail died at the age of 58. He is known to daytime fans as the second Dr. Joe Scanlon on Port Charles. Now, his family is sharing information on his final days.
David Gail: What We Now Know
According to Deadline, Gail passed away on January 16 due to heart failure. The actor had been put on life support several days prior to his passing. A rep for the family said that Gail was “found unresponsive by emergency personnel who made every attempt to save his life including [performing] cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation.”
The statement from Gail’s kin continued: “The family has no reason to suspect the cause of his death was anything but heart failure.” According to TMZ, law enforcement sources are saying that an official cause of death is pending.
In addition to his roles on Savannah and Port Charles, Gail recurring on Beverly Hills, 90210 as Stuart Carson, who was one of Brenda’s (Shannen Doherty) love interests. Marie Wilson (ex-Karen, PC; ex-Meg, As the World Turns; ex-Summer, Days of our Lives) played opposite Gail on the ABC half-hour soap opera. “It was fun and a pleasure having worked with this talented actor,” the actress shared on Instagram. “Heartbroken to hear you left us so young. Sending love and peace to your family.”
