Maurice Benard’s Joyous Birthday
While Benard (Sonny) admits he isn’t big on birthdays, he’s choosing to celebrate his 63rd on March 1 with a new episode of his podcast State of Mind where the tables will turn. Instead of Benard interviewing a guest, he’ll be in the hot seat as GH co-star and on-screen son Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) interviews him.
When Zamprogna asks his TV dad if he has a birthday wish, Benard simply replies, “All I want is joy.”
The actor, who’s been hosting the mental health podcast for almost six years, goes on to reveal that when he feels peace on the inside, it’s a gift.”When I have peace within, I cannot be f—ed with,” Benard admitted.
Benard also recently took to social media to share some words about the late Robert Carradine, who also suffered from bipolar disorder. “Anybody out there who’s bipolar — or any mental illness — please ask for help…asking for help is strength,” he said in an Instagram video.
While Sonny, Dante, and Olivia may not be together on screen right now, this SOM episode will include a skit featuring Benard, Zamprogna, and GH’s Lisa LoCicero (Olivia).
