Ellen Travolta Returns To General Hospital As Lois’s Mom

Lois isn’t the only Cerullo coming back to General Hospital. Actress Ellen Travolta is going to reprise her role as Gloria, Lois’s mother.

Soap Opera Digest first reported the news of Travolta’s return. Gloria first made the scene on GH back in 1994 when she showed up for her daughter’s wedding to Ned (Wally Kurth). Ned’s then-future mother-in-law met him while he was in the shower with Lois (Rena Sofer)!

Lois and Gloria clashed over the wedding dress Lois wore for her wedding to Ned. Gloria wanted a big family ceremony with a priest, but Lois informed her mother that Lois and Ned had other ideas. When Danny (David Gianopoulos), Lois’s ex-boyfriend showed up, Gloria told him to get lost!

Chicken Foreshadowing

Gloria got a shout-out on the show earlier this year. Dex (Evan Hofer) came upon recipe cards, including one for chicken piccata. Sonny (Maurice Benard) mentioned to him that they were Gloria’s recipes and filled him in on the Bensonhurst matriarch. Travolta is the sister of actor John Travolta (Saturday Night Fever; Welcome Back Kotter).
