Did Spencer and Trina’s General Hospital Love Story Just Come To A Close?

On the January 30 episode, General Hospital took a trip all the way back to 2023 when Spencer and Trina boarded a Parisian riverboat that looked hauntingly like the late Haunted Star, the Port Charles boat that blew up in Greenland last April. They even had Esme on board to remind them of when they found her on deck pregnant, cold, wet, and confused as they rang in the year that just passed.

The City Of Love On The Seine

After a romantic dinner in a Parisian bistro that looked uncannily like a spruced-up version of The Tan-O from Nixon Falls, Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) had a big surprise for Trina (Tabyana Ali) before she began her classes at the Sorbonne. He’d rented out a boat to take a trip down the Seine River.

The pair reminisced about their lives together, especially their weekend in New York City where they made love for the first time last fall (Ali spoke with Soap Hub about Sprina in NYC here). When they entered a formal stateroom, they made love again and reminded fans of their time in a Haunted Star stateroom while being held hostage by Uncle Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).

Before they made it to the stateroom, Trina marveled at the love she and Spencer shared and what an incredible person Spencer was. She told him how special she felt having him in her life, leading to Spencer thanking Trina for bringing him joy when all he could see and feel was pain until he met her. Thanks to Trina, Spencer felt worthy of love.

Everything Goes Wrong At Once

Little did Spencer and Trina know that Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) was on board gunning for revenge — and answers to where Nikolas took her son (refresh your memory about that here). She knocked out a crew member and even felt a twinge of guilt, but she was a woman on a mission and nobody could stop her.

After Spencer and Trina made love, Spencer could only look at his girlfriend and wonder how he could get so lucky while Trina drifted in and out of sleep with a soft smile on her face. Too bad that might have been the last time she would smile for a while.

When Spencer went out on deck, he saw a blood trail leading to the man Esme clocked over the head with a fire extinguisher as Esme stunned Trina by entering her room. With Spencer nowhere to be found, Trina was on her own with her worst enemy.

January 31 is set to be the last day we see Spencer for quite a while as he disappears while Chavez takes a GH break to film Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story. As danger lurks in the form of Esme, we know that this night of romance will have to be one Trina holds onto for the rest of her life.
