Drew’s shooting on General Hospital has been a big letdown. GH fans finally got what they wanted when Drew was shot, but the payoff has fallen short.
Why Even Bother
Instead of using the shooting to attempt to redeem Drew (Cameron Mathison) or, at the very least, give him amnesia, Drew woke up the same old despicable human being. Drew might even be worse than before.
From the second he woke up, Drew has been up to his old tricks, plotting and scheming for his own gain. It’s no surprise the corrupt congressman plans to frame Michael (Rory Gibson) for the shooting to get Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) her kids back so he can control her more.
Little does he know, Willow just might be the one who put those bullets in him. As the Port Charles police focus on who shot Drew, GH fans are wondering why the writers even bothered, since he’s still the same old awful person.
“So no dead Drew No comatos Drew No amnesia Drew No paralyze Drew Just the same old Drew but shot…What was the point?” asked a fan.
Another fan shared, “So much for him having amnesia or being a changed man when he woke up. We will never be free of this character or this storyline! What was the point of him getting shot?!”
“So the point of this who shot Drew storyline was to give Drew ammo to take Michael down? I think somebody needs to explain pay off to GH’s writers because they obviously don’t know what that word means,” expressed one fan.
There’s no question that the point seems to be to set up Michael, which not only takes the fun out of the whodunnit mystery but also has one fan convinced Drew set the whole thing up.
“So now I’m wondering if Drew set up the shooting. The first thing he asks for is Willow. Not questioning what happened or why he is in the hospital. Did he set this up to pin on Michael to get the kids back for Willow? Just a theory. I’m investigating all angles,” insisted a fan.
If that is the payoff, it’s so not what fans wanted or hoped for, as we still have to watch despicable Drew on our TV screens. Here’s hoping there’s a twist coming that will help fans understand what the point of having Drew shot was.
