Daytime Favorite Cady McClain Celebrates Her Birthday

Her Days of our Lives character, Jennifer Horton Deveraux, hasn’t been seen in a while as she lives her best life with Jack in Boston, but her portrayer, beloved soap star Cady McClain, has a reason to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Cady McClain

That’s because she was born on October 13, 1969, in Burbank, California, which means that this multi-faceted performer is turning 54 years old today! McClain entered the world of acting at a relatively young age when she starred in the nationally aired “I’m Stuck on Band-Aid” commercial shortly after turning 9 years old.

Subsequently, she would appear in over 30 commercials for a number of products, including McDonald’s, Barbie, Shout Detergent, and Kool-Aid. Roles in television soon followed, and McClain even landed a recurring role on the NBC medical series St. Elsewhere.

Her early primetime appearances included guest spots on Cheers, Spenser for Hire, and Lou Grant. McClain also filmed a number of made-for-television films, including Who Will Love My Children, Robert Kennedy and His Times, and Home Fires.

In 1981 and 1982, respectively, McClain had parts in two silver screen features. The first was a small role in the Steve Martin/Bernadette Peters starring film, Pennies From Heaven, and in the second — My Favorite Year — she played opposite Peter O’Toole.

However, Cady McClain is probably best known for her work on two of the most popular and beloved daytime serials. At various points between 1988 and 2013, she played southern-fried heroine Dixie Cooney on ABC’s All My Children. From 2002 – 2005 and then again from 2007 – 2010, she appeared on CBS’ As the World Turns, where she starred as the more devilish Rosanna Cabot.

After the cancellation of both shows, McClain returned to daytime once more when she took over the role of Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless, a part she would play from April 2014 to May of 2015. The same year she vacated her Y&R post, McClain married current General Hospital star Jon Lindstrom, whom she had worked opposite on ATWT. She has stepped in for Melissa Reeves as Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux on Days of our Lives and won her third Daytime Emmy for doing it.
