Fifth Time’s A Charm
Zamprogna’s 2025 Daytime Emmy nod marks the actor’s fifth nomination for his work on GH, and his second time being nominated in the Lead Actor category. Despite making his daytime debut in 2009, it wasn’t until 2014 that Zamprogna received his first nomination, which was for his work when Dante got the devastating news that his and Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) embryo was stolen by Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and he had a son he never knew he had.
Of course, history repeated itself earlier this year when Dante, once again, found out he had a son he never knew about, this time being Gio (Giovanni Mazza). But that emotional storyline isn’t what Zamprogna is nominated for.
In 2024, Dante was finally getting his life back together after recovering from the brainwashing and losing Lulu to a coma. He had proposed to Sam (Kelly Monaco) and blended their families to raise Rocco (Finn Carr), Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), and Scout (Cosette Abinante) together.
All was well until Lulu suffered a decline and needed a liver transplant to save her life. When they learned Sam was a match, she didn’t hesitate to be her donor. Of course, being laid up at GH after her surgery left her vulnerable to the digitalis murderer, who was revealed to be Cyrus (Jeff Kober). Sam’s death devastated Dante and left him uncertain about how to feel when Lulu miraculously woke up and returned to Port Charles.
Zamprogna remains an underrated player on GH, but the way he broke all of our hearts during Sam’s death may just lead him to his first Daytime Emmy win.
