Dancing With the Stars Rylee Arnold Reveals Medical Diagnosis

Rylee Arnold is sharing a health update with her fans.

Dancing With the Stars pro Rylee Arnold made her debut as a pro dancer last season on the reality competition series. She was paired with reality hottie Harry Jowsey and were eliminated ninth in the competition, despite the judges awarding the duo with lower scores than their competition received. Now, Arnold is revealing an important health update as she encourages others facing similar challenges.

“It’s been three years since I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes,” Arnold shared in an Instagram post. “Although it was one of the hardest times in my life and one of the biggest learning curves for me, I’m incredibly grateful for the strength it has given me! I remember when I was first diagnosed, I didn’t want my diagnosis to stop me from living my dreams and working hard for the things I wanted.

“The fact that I have had the most amazing year, fulfilling my biggest dreams, makes me so grateful and happy!” Arnold continued. “All of the blood sugar scares, counting carbs, hauling supplies, and crazy management is so worth it! Type 1 has taught me so much about myself and how I can also be a huge advocate to so many with Type 1 as well.” (Read here about a Type II diabetes story beat that aired on General Hospital a few years ago.)

“I hope I can be an inspiration to so many of you and I just want you guys to know that nothing can ever stop you from achieving your dreams,” the fan favorite concluded. “You might have some bumps and challenges along the way, but they only make you so much stronger!! Love you all.”

Fellow DWTS pros are showering Rylee Arnold with praise and support. “ICON!!! Look at the year you’ve had,” shared Emma Slater, a DWTS pro and mirror ball champion. “So proud of you…you are an inspiration. So glad you’re talking about diabetes and holding it up with you as a beautiful part of who you are. Nothing can or will stop you.”

Alan Bernsten, another DWTS pro and mirror ball champion, wrote: “You’re such an inspiration! So proud of you! Keep going!!”
