General Hospital’s Anna and her granddaughter Emma were discussing going dancing together. This may have been a nod to Finola Hughes herself.
Stayin’ Alive
Finola Hughes has been playing Anna (did she go to the dark side?) on GH since the eighties. Many newer fans may not know that the actress is also a professional dancer. She trained in dance and performing arts at the Arts Educational Schools London and began her career in the Northern Ballet Company. She originated the role of “Victoria” in the Original London production of Cats.
Her most famous dance role was in Staying Alive, the 1983 sequel to the legendary movie Saturday Night Fever, starring John Travolta as Tony Manero. Hughes played Laura, a snooty dancer and Tony’s love interest. The film received terrible reviews but did well at the box office and showed off Hughes’ dance talent.
Port Charles also saw Anna’s dance moves when she and Duke (Ian Buchanan) often did the tango together.
Dancing Queen
Anna is now a grandmother, and her college-age granddaughter, Emma (Braedyn Bruner), is back home and attending PCU. The new Emma has had a personality change and has become a wild child who gets herself into trouble.
Her most recent adventure was sneaking out in the middle of the night. Anna confronted Emma after she was spotted by BFF Felica (Kristina Wagner) outside the Mercury Club. After a bit of a heart-to-heart, Emma suggested her grandmother come dancing with her. They agreed that if Emma gets all A’s, grandmother and granddaughter will go clubbing together. Anna ended the conversation by saying that she might be able to teach Emma a few things.
Anna most definitely “still has it,” and Emma might be shocked to see how Grandma can dance. Would you like Anna to show Emma her moves? Let us know in the comments.
