GH Comings and Goings: Soap Vet Eva LaRue Joins Cast As Blaze’s Mom

General Hospital has scored a casting coup. Eva LaRue, best known for her role as Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children, is joining the show as Blaze’s mom. Most recently, she appeared on The Young and the Restless as Celeste Rosales. LaRue’s arrival in Port Charles as Natalia Rogers-Ramirez could potentially add drama to Kristina and Blaze’s developing relationship.

Blaze Gets A Mom

TVline first reported the news of LaRue joining GH. She’s set to debut on Monday, February 26. Natalia coming onto the scene coincides with Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) relationship developing. The two women are currently dealing with a couple of potential obstacles to their relationship. First, Kristina’s acting as a surrogate for her sister, Molly (Kristen Vaganos). Second, Blaze has had difficulty opening up to her family about her orientation.

While LaRue is best known as AMC’s Maria (the role she played from 1993 on and off until the show’s finale in 2011), she nabbed a Daytime Emmy for Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her stint as Celeste on Y&R in 2020.

Pine Valley Pals

In between stints on daytime, LaRue has starred in primetime series CSI: Miami and Fuller House. And in movies, A Killer Walks Amongst Us, and Finding Love in Quarantine. Her role on GH will reunite her with other AMC alums, including Cameron Mathison (Drew; ex-Ryan, AMC), Michael E. Knight (Martin; ex-Tad, AMC), Finola Hughes (Anna; ex-Alex/Anna, AMC), and James Patrick Stuart (Valentin; ex-Will).

LaRue’s late February arrival on the scene is set to occur shortly before the reported debut of new head writers Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte. Soap Hub sends LaRue a warm welcome back to daytime.
