Actor Michael Easton revealed he’s out at General Hospital. He most recently portrayed Dr. Hamilton Finn on the ABC soap.
Fond Farewell
Easton took to Instagram to share the news with his fans. His caption read, “Thank you for your kindness. My heart is filled with love and gratitude. #gh #goodbye.”
He included a video with the post, which he filmed outside the studio, explaining more.
“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” he said, “That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better. So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.
“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” he continued. “I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”
Easton has played multiple characters in Port Charles. From 2001-2003, he was vampire Caleb Morley in the GH spinoff, Port Charles. After One Life to Live went off the air in 2012, Easton’s character, Detective John McBain, went to GH.
In 2013, Easton brought Dr. Silas Clay to live on the ABC soap, but Clay died in 2015. Ultimately, he played Dr. Hamilton Finn, a role that earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2018 for Outstanding Lead Actor.
In addition to his roles on ABC soap operas, Easton debuted on daytime in 1991 as Tanner Scofield on Days of Our Lives — a role he played until 1992.
Currently on GH, Finn is in a downward spiral with alcoholism, and he’ll possibly head to rehab. Easton’s final airdate is June 27.
