General Hospital star Cameron Mathison lost his home in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires this week. In the wake of the terrible tragedy, he’s warned against donating to scam GoFundMe accounts.
Mathison shared a video on Instagram detailing the scam situation. He wrote, “Thank you for all the love and support to our family and the 1000s of people affected by Ted by these fires.
“PLEASE DO NOT DONATE TO A GO FUND ME PAGE using my videos or photos!!!” he continued. “It is not us. We are not asking for money. Unimaginable that someone is using this disaster to rip people off. Stay safe. Sending love and support to all those affected🙏🏼💔❤️”
In the comments, he also wrote, “Please share this … whether someone is using my videos and images or someone else’s to scam.”
In the video, Mathison reiterated what he’d written in his caption. “Thank you so much, everybody, for the love and support that you’ve shown us and others right now, he began. “Please do not donate to a GoFundMe page using my images, my face, my name. We are not asking for money. Somebody is using the images and the videos that I’ve posted to try to get money for themselves. It is not us. Please do not do that.
“I appreciate your support, but be careful who you donate to out there, OK?” he continued. “Thank you so much, everybody.”
Yesterday, Mathison shared details of all he’d lost in the fire.
Please be careful about donations in the wake of these devastating wildfires. It’s difficult to believe, but people are trying to take advantage of this tragedy. Soap Hub sends its thoughts to those affected, and we will be careful only to share genuine requests for donations to legitimate relief organizations and funds.
