General Hospital star Cameron Mathison is perhaps the hardest working actor in television, averaging two or three TV-Movies a year since ending his 13-year stint on All My Children when it was canceled in 2011. Throughout his decades-long career Mathison has learned some life-changing lessons.
Additionally, he’s also been the host of a whopping 11 shows, which includes Game of Homes, and Home & Family, among others. He’s done several films for the Hallmark Channel, and in November 2023 inked a three-year deal with Great American Family to make even more films. With all of that going on, it’s a wonder he has time to ever come up for air.
But he thrives on acting, and he’s learned a lot over the years. On April 21, he spoke with Digital Journal about all of his exciting endeavors, including becoming the host of a brand new game show called Beat the Bridge on Game Show Network. In it, contestants must step on the answers to trivia questions to literally cross a bridge and must get to the end and back in a certain amount of time. (It kind of reminds us of the old game show, Beat the Clock, albeit sans bridge.) Between that and his plentiful, upcoming Great American Family TV movies, there’s no stopping the guy.
When asked what he’s gleaned from being immersed in the entertainment industry for so long, Mathison confidently stated, “We are capable of anything. Our potential is so limited and we can honestly become our dreams, even if it’s the biggest change in the world.” He’s not only proven his motto with all of the projects he’s worked on, but he’s also made the GH character Drew Cain his own, taking over for the late Billy Miller prior to the beloved star’s death — a feat that many fans felt was impossible.
He brought his message of perseverance home, stating, “Anything is possible and you can live out your dream.” He praised his soap co-stars Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves) and Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) for being great scene partners and continues to have fun exposing Drew’s darker nature.
