As Drew edges ever closer toward the dark side on General Hospital, his portrayer, Cameron Mathison, has been finding his way back from the brink of tragedy. The actor and his family sadly lost their home during the LA wildfires, but he’s been nothing but upbeat publicly, remaining positive in the face of adversity. The actor recently took some time to share an update with his fans.
He Now Has a Place to Live
Mathison eagerly wrote on Instagram, “Quick life update! Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this challenging time, I appreciate all of you deeply and will never forget how you all helped me start to piece my new life together. Love you all, Cam.” In the video, he spoke from the heart, beginning, “Just want to give everybody a really quick update since the fire. I’ve received so much unbelievable support and a lot of questions as to how I’m doing and if I have a place to stay now. First three weeks were a little tricky.”
He stated that he now has a multi-level rental place in Silver Lake, California, with a cold plunge for ice baths on the roof. Plus he also showed a small Buddha statue that he recovered from his house and even got a couch “From my beautiful friend Eva LaRue [Natalia].” He thanked his friends for giving him a place to stay as well as “Dishes given to me and towels and sheets and clothes and I’m gonna forget some things, but [there’s been] so much kindness and generosity and I just wanted to say thanks to everybody.”

He Has Great Friends
Mathison further noted that it’s been a near-Herculean effort to recover, but with everyone’s help, he’s getting through it. “I really do love you guys,” he said to his fans, friends, and followers. Former GH castmate Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt) shared a heart emoji with Mathison, who returned twice as many in response. Another co-star, Finola Hughes (Anna), and former GH star Tamara Braun, who now plays Ava on Days of Our Lives, also responded with hearts.

The fans were thrilled that the actor’s update was very positive, with one responding, “So glad to see you have a place. I can’t even imagine what you and your family have been through with such a loss. I love that you are getting g so much support. ❤️.” And one follower’s response wrapped up the general consensus with the statement, “Such wonderful friends and people in this world! Happy you got a new place too! 🙏🏼.”
