General Hospital star Cameron Mathison is starting to give Ryan Seacrest a run for his money when it comes to being the busiest man in Hollywood. In addition to his role as GH’s Drew and his upcoming movies with GAC, Mathison is taking on another role — game show host.
Deadline reports that the Game Show Network is readying three new series this year. One of the, Beat The Bridge, will be hosted by Mathison. The series is based on the BBC game show Bridge of Lies and is set to debut in June. Beat The Bridge features a huge interactive bridge that challenges players to cross by stepping on the correct answer to challenging trivia questions.
Each step forward puts money into a team’s bank — with bonus money for each successful crossing. A team only gets to hang onto the money if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.
Last November, Mathison shared he was making movies with Great American Family (GAC). “It is very important to me to create well-crafted, beautiful stories,” the actor said. “I am grateful to be back at Great American Media and to collaborate with some of the best creative teams in entertainment to make heartwarming content everyone can enjoy.”
In December at Christmas Con, Mathison took to social media to assure GH fans that he wasn’t going anywhere as Drew. “[T]he number one question that I’m getting while I’m here…is whether [or not] I’m leaving General Hospital…” the actor said, “and I don’t know why there’s a rumor out there. But I’m definitely not. I’m having the best time ever on GH.”
What could be next for Mathison and Drew now that he and Carly (Laura Wright) have split? It’s possible we might see more scenes with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen). “She’s a dream,” Mathison told Soap Hub. “[Katelyn] is a very special human. I think she does a great job with Willow. I feel that that relationship [between Drew and Willow] is really special.”
