Is the food at Pentonville truly that bad? Seriously, Drew Cain, played by General Hospital star Cameron Mathison, is gunning for ousted Crimson magazine editor Nina Reeves. Mathison recently spoke to Soap Hub about why Drew is determined to make Nina pay!

Cameron Mathison: Drew Is Drawn This Way

Upon finding out that Nina (Cynthia Watros) was the one who turned Drew and Carly (Laura Wright) into the SEC, which resulted in financial hardship for Carly and sending Drew to prison (where he was beaten up), Drew canned Nina from her position. He’s also let her know in so many words that he’d like to inflict more harm on her. Yikes! This is not your grandmother’s Ryan Lavery! (Mathison’s beloved hero character that he played on All My Children.)

“Listen man, you know they tell me to do something, I just dive in head first to do it,” Mathison told Soap Hub on the red carpet at the taping for the 31st Annual MovieGuide Awards on Friday night. “Honestly, it was fun,” the actor says of bringing new shades to his character. “It was fun to create a little friction.”

Perhaps on some level, Drew knows that he and Carly did break the law, but he can’t get past the trauma he endured in jail, and he is opting to blame Nina. “Drew was beaten up in prison. He’s got PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder],” Mathison says. “He really feels like it’s Nina’s fault. He wants to get back at Nina. He’s not letting it go. Even Carly wants to let it go, but Drew doesn’t want to let it go.”

How else has his stint in prison changed Drew? “It’s more like he realizes life is short,” Mathison says.

The 31st Annual MovieGuide Awards is hosted by Trevor Donovan (ex-Jeremy, Days of our Lives) and Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years). It airs on Thursday, March 7, at 8 p.m. ET on Great American Family (GAF).
