It’s only been three months since Burke (Charlotte) made her GH debut in the recast role of Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) daughter. Burke took over the role from Scarlett Fernandez, who originated the role of Charlotte in 2016.
Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Burke admitted she knew the second she was cast that her role as Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) granddaughter was huge. The legacy of these two characters was something Burke was super familiar with, thanks to those around her, especially her father, Fire Country star Billy Burke.
“When I told my dad that Laura is my [character’s] grandma, he was like, ‘Oh, my God, Laura, like the Luke and Laura?!’” she expressed to the outlet.
Burke recalled that anytime she told a family member or friend about her new job on GH, the answer was always the same. The person would recall rushing home to watch the ABC soap during the heyday of Laura and Luke, especially their historic wedding.
Knowing that history, Burke realized from the jump that she was playing a legacy character and would be working with a legend in the business.
“It’s really cool getting to work with such an icon,” Burke expressed, adding that she looks forward to learning from Francis the more they get to work together.
