General Hospital has never been a subtle show. They don’t foreshadow; they fore-anvil. And the anvils are dropping fast and furious that Gio is Brook Lynn’s biological son…especially now that we’re hearing about how she and Dante were involved back during his camp days with Cody. Here’s why that story makes no sense.
How old is everybody supposed to be, anyway? Do Dante (Dominic Zampronga), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), Cody (Josh Kelly), and Chase (Josh Swickard) look to be born within a year or two of each other? No, they do not. And Gio is a college student, right? So if he’s 20, unless we have another Claudia (Sarah Brown) and Johnny (Brandon Barash) situation here, that puts Brook Lynn at least into her mid to late 30s.
That’s certainly not how the writers have been writing her or how Setton, who is, in fact, 38 years old, has been playing her. She’s being written and played much closer in age to 32, which is Swickard’s actual age. Meanwhile, Kelly is 42, and Zampronga is 45. That’s a pretty big span there.

But the bigger issue here is what reason would a teenage Brook Lynn possibly have had to give her baby up for adoption? None of the usual causes apply to her.
You give up your baby because you can’t afford to raise it. That would never have been a problem for Brook Lynn Quartermaine. You give up your baby because your family would cut you both off in shame. Can anyone imagine either Lois (Rena Sofer) or Ned (Wally Kurth) doing that? You give up your baby because you have no interest in being a mother. Yeah, we can see a teen Brook Lynn being a spoiled enough brat just to want to hand off her “problem” to someone else.
But here’s the thing: BLQ is rich. Rich people don’t need to take care of their own problems. Rich people hire other people to take care of their problems.
Brook Lynn could have afforded a full-time nanny. Lois would have been happy to supervise. Heck, TRACY (Jane Elliott) would have been happy to supervise. Giving up Gio, even to other members of the Cerrullo family, would have been utterly unnecessary.
