Over the weekend, friends and fans of the late General Hospital star Johnny Wactor gathered in North Hollywood for a blood drive in the actor’s honor.

Giving Back for Wactor

Many who remembered Wactor after his passing noted how giving he was, and his giving nature is continuing on after his death. Hosted by Aubree Bowen, the blood drive was held at Stuart Rogers Studios in North Hollywood on Saturday, September 13 and received over 50 donors.

“Keeping Johnny’s name alive is so important to us,” Bowen told Los Angeles’ ABC7. “He never should have lost his life.”

Wactor, who starred as Brando on GH from 2020-2022, was tragically killed in May 2024 during a catalytic converter theft from his vehicle. The actor, who was working a bartending job at the time, was fatally shot by the thieves.

Wactor’s friend Andrew Oliveri shared with ABC7, “We lost him way too soon, and he would be here, plain and simple, and that’s why I’m here,” while another friend, Glenn Taranto, said, “We can’t save Johnny, but we can save other people.”

Last summer, protests were held in Los Angeles to find Wactor’s killer, where GH co-stars Parry Shen (Brad), Lydia Look (Selina), and Wactor’s on-screen mom Bonnie Burroughs (Gladys) all took a stand.

By August 2024, four men were arrested in connection to the theft and killing, appearing in court earlier this year.

Another blood drive is planned for August 29, 2026, two days shy of what would have been Wactor’s 40th birthday, and is expected to be a bigger event in his honor.
