Several General Hospital characters have needed Steven Webber to come back to Port Charles. Last seen in 2013, Memphis police arrested Steven and sent him to prison in Tennessee for killing a comatose prisoner so their heart could save a little girl’s life. Recently, his sister Elizabeth mentioned that he’d been released from prison, and now Reeves is finally reprising his fan-favorite role.
Reeves is finally returning to Port Charles and spoke to TV Insider about what he was feeling upon arrival. “I’ve been doing other things, but this was like putting on a really, really comfortable pair of jeans,” he stated. He found his reprisal to be “bittersweet” because of all the life changes everyone has gone through since he was last on the show, including himself. Plus, the fact that several people related to the show including Sonya Eddy (Epiphany) and Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) had passed away, moved him greatly.
He enjoyed walking into the studio as if he’d only left a week before. A friendly face greeted him before entering the building. He remarked, “I was walking through the parking lot and I hear, from a distance, ‘Scotty Reeves!’ And I turn around and there’s Rick Hearst [Ric Lansing]. I said, ‘Dude, this is like old home week!’ Rick and I have remained very close over the years.” He also continued to stay in contact with other castmates like Steve Burton (Jason) and Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth).

Reeves and Burton couldn’t stop reminiscing about the old days and even discussed resurrecting their cover band, Port Chuck. He also found that Alley Mills, who plays Steven’s mother, Heather Webber, was delightful, noting, “She is so hilarious and plays that role to the hilt.” Regarding seeing Herbst again, Reeves enthusiastically remarked, “That was like reuniting with family because Becky and I are close outside of GH. She really was like my younger sister.”
He thought about what’s been going on with Steve and explained, “Steven did his time, he’s been out of prison for a few months now and has been living in Sedona, Arizona trying to start over and figure out what life is supposed to look like at this point,” especially since his crime cost him his medical license. Realizing that his character has many more stories to tell, he enthused that coming back was a wonderful thing. (Learn how Reeves and his wife Melissa became grandparents.)
