Baby Ace, played by twins Joey and Jay Clay on General Hospital, calls Esme mom — but in real-life, Lana Clay is the mother of the actors who bring Ace to life. Over the weekend, Lana underwent a medical emergency.
Lana Clay: Prognosis Good
“I wanted to share that Lana was admitted yesterday to the ICU with sepsis and critically low blood pressure. She is awake but very sick,” Mark Clay, Lana’s husband and father to Joey and Jay, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Lana’s strength and transparency have always inspired us, and we’re rallying around her during this challenge that she will beat!”
The following day, Lana gave social media followers an update on her condition, which, fortunately, has improved dramatically. “Grateful for the love & support,” Lan wrote. “Mark’s been by my side & more than I could ever ask for. Blood pressure’s up, moved from ICU. Facing challenges but staying determined. Can’t wait to be home with my baby Aces’ & bulldogs. Miss you all dearly, our beloved General Hospital Family.”
Just last week, the Clay twins’ X (formerly Twitter) account shared a post that celebrated the boys’ one-year anniversary of being on GH. “Throwback to our early days on the General Hospital set!” read a post. “Can’t believe it’s been a year since the boys first arrived in their car seats, stealing hearts and lighting up the set with their adorable presence. #BabyAce #GeneralHospital.” In light of the apparent death of Ace’s mother, Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) and the incarceration of his dad, Nikolas (Adam Huss), little Ace is on his way to being adopted by his paternal grandmother Laura (Genie Francis) and great uncle Kevin (Jon Lindstrom).
“Lana, So glad to hear you’re out of ICU and your BP is up,” wrote Patricia Deri on X. “Hoping soon you’ll be ready to go home to your family. Please know you and your family are in my prayers, Lana.”
Soap Hub sends Lana Clay and the whole Clay family positive vibes and a continued recovery.
