Why It’s Time For Ava To Get Custody Of Avery On General Hospital

General Hospital’s Sonny and Ava have been through one custody battle after another on General Hospital. Poor Avery has been moved back and forth for most of her life. It is time for her to settle in somewhere, and right now, it looks like her mom is the best choice.

Mommy And Me

Ava (Maura West) is sometimes a bit of a train wreck and has committed numerous crimes. In reality, she should probably be in prison.

The art dealer also has a soft side. She truly loved Nikolas (Adam Huss) when they were together, and she cares for her friends (most of the time). The most important things in the world to her are her children. She and Kiki (Hayley Erin) had issues, but she was devastated when her daughter was murdered. She never really got over it and will grieve her forever.

Ava has one daughter left and will do anything to protect her. Understandably, she is worried about Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola) in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) care. He lives a dangerous life, and the thought of their daughter being caught in the crossfire is frightening. She knows that Avery needs a stable home, and shuffling her around is hectic for the girl. Plus, Avery loves her mom and hasn’t been able to spend time with her for a while. This would be upsetting for any child.

Ava would never be voted “Mother of the Year,” but she is the best choice right now.

Daddy Dearest

Sonny also loves his daughter, just as he loves all his children. He tries to be a good dad, but a mob boss isn’t exactly an ideal father. His children tend to get hurt because of what he does for a living. He shot his son Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Morgan (Bryan Craig) was blown up in a car, and most recently, Michael (Chad Duell) was set on fire. Any mom wouldn’t want their child with him.

After Michael’s incident, Ava is more adamant than ever that Avery should be with her. What she doesn’t know about is Sonny’s heart condition. He collapsed more than once and needs treatment. Thankfully, his daughter was not around to witness it. He is being secretive about his health because he wants to keep the truth from his family and Ava so she won’t use it in their custody battle. He is being treated in L.A., so no one will know.

Avery is now at Carly’s (Laura Wright) with her sister Donna (Scarlett Spears), but Carly isn’t there. She went to a burn center in Germany with Michael with nannies presumably caring for the girls. So Sonny is keeping Avery from her mom without a parent in sight.

Neither Sonny nor Ava is the best parent Port Charles has ever seen. But, at this point, it makes more sense for their daughter to be in her mother’s care. Do you think Ava should have custody of Avery? Let us know in the comments.
