Are General Hospital’s Sam And Dex Truly Dead?!?

General Hospital recently killed off Evan Hofer‘s Dex and Kelly Monaco‘s Sam within months of each other. Both were victims of being injected with digitalis. We know Cyrus killed Sam and that he likely killed Dex while he lay recovering in the hospital. All of this comes on the heels of Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) ventilator being tampered with. Clearly, something is amiss at the hospital, and  Elizabeth has become the prime suspect.

Connecting The Dots

While it has not been made clear why Cyrus would want to hurt Lulu, who escaped from the hospital before another malady could be inflicted, there is even less of a reason for Cyrus to kill Sam. Sure, she was a private investigator, but there was no mention of her investigating Cyrus at the time of her death. In fact, before her death, he wasn’t even on her radar.

Dex, on the other hand, was no fan of Cyrus and almost killed him on Sonny’s orders while Cyrus was recovering in the hospital. Although we did not see it on screen, Cyrus likely stabbed Dex in the park, setting him up to be a sitting duck in the hospital.

Shout out to the GH makeup department because they could not have made Sam or Dex look any more dead than they did. The coloring on their faces was very realistic for someone who had been dead for a bit of time. BUT…are they really, truly, sincerely dead?

Fun And Games

It’s possible this is a big ruse to set up Cyrus for a fall. That may be because many viewers really enjoy having Kelly Monaco and Evan Hofer on the canvas. However, as soap viewers know, it’s difficult to take things at face value on daytime television. First off, both characters were popular and had much story left to tell. What if Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) have teamed up to take down Cyrus at any cost?

It’s easy to hope that Anna would not be involved after seeing the pain inflicted on her close friend Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) after Sam died. She was also a mentor to Dex, but that could also be why she wanted to protect him.

Perhaps Anna’s grief was an act, or maybe it was real, and she is not in the loop. Or maybe it is Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). She is Charlotte’s father and if he heard Lulu’s ventilator had been tampered with, he may have gone into deeper hiding, so there are almost no traces of his location.
