After the beloved character of Emma was recast on General Hospital for the first time since 2011, her former portrayer Brooklyn Rae Silzer is speaking out about the end of an era.
Silzer first joined GH in 2011 at the age of 5 as Emma, the daughter of supercouple Patrick (ex-Jason Thompson) and Robin (ex-Kimberly McCullough). After growing up as Emma for seven years, Silzer left the show and made short appearances in 2020 and 2023.
The young actress, who celebrated her 18th birthday this year, took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank her GH family and the fans who came with it. “A little note to my @GeneralHospital family and fans who have loved me over the years,” Silzer wrote along with a longer note posted as a photo.
“Although sad my time as Emma has come to an end, I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made,” Silzer said. After graduating high school earlier this year, Silzer had her GH mom, McCullough, in attendance.
As for Emma’s recast, Braedyn Bruner, Silzer had nothing but kind things to say. “I am so excited to see how Braedyn takes care of Emma and bring new layers to her character.”
Bruner debuted in the role on December 23, 2024 when Emma came home for Christmas, but not before having an unexpected encounter with Gio (Giovanni Mazza). Gio recently told Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) that he doesn’t expect to meet his future wife any time soon, but could that all change now that he’s met Emma?
