General Hospital’s Maxie and Lulu are going through it after the latter revealed she and Nathan are pursuing a relationship. The best friends had it out, but for Alexa Havins, accepting the romance was challenging. A conversation with Kirsten Storms changed everything.

Key Takeaways

  • Alexa Havins feared that GH fans would hate Lulu again.
  • The actress kept her feelings out of the performance until she got help.
  • Kirsten Storms gave her the Maxie and Lulu backstory.

The Tangled Web of Lulu and Maxie

When she learned that Nathan (Ryan Paevey) and Lulu (Havins) were giving romance a try, Havins worried GH fans would turn on Lulu for betraying Maxie (Storms).

After all, Lulu just got back in fans’ good graces after being relentless in finding out the truth about Gio (Giovanni Mazza) being Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton). Despite her fear, Havins had a job to do and put her personal feelings aside like a professional.

Then she got some insight from Storms that changed her perspective and helped her accept Lulu and Nathan as a couple.

“A lot of the conflict between Lulu and Maxie was before I was playing Lulu. And Kirsten was telling me, ‘No, no, this makes so much sense for Maxie and Lulu!’” Havins revealed to Soap Opera Digest.

Storms filled Havins in on how Maxie kissed Johnny (Brandon Barash) when he was with Lulu, the part Lulu played in Nathan getting killed, and Maxie passing off Georgie (Lily Fisher) as Dante and Lulu’s baby when she was their surrogate.

“What I took away from that conversation is that Maxie and Lulu fight almost as sisters would. It can get a little heated, it can get a little harsh, but no matter what is said or done, they love each other like sisters,” she expressed.

Thanks to her chat with Storms, Havins knew how to play the conflict between Lulu and Maxie better. The friends have weathered many storms before, but this one is different.

Maxie feels betrayed, and we all know that when Maxie feels wronged, she digs her heels in. This story is just getting started, so fans will need to keep watching to see if Maxie and Lulu’s friendship can withstand Nathan and Lulu’s burgeoning romance.
