Adam Huss dressed up as Superman one time with his beloved pup, Sawyer, taking on the role of Krypto, Superman’s dog. On the recent 86th anniversary of Superman’s 1938 debut in Action Comics, the General Hospital actor reposted the photos of him as the Man of Steel and Sawyer as his canine companion.
“It’s officially #Supermanday,” Huss posted on Instagram. “I’ve loved Superman since as long as I can remember — because he stood for good, justice, and the American way. Helping people in need, leading with kindness, and lifting them up! I’ve had to learn the healthier version of that for myself – you can’t save everyone, especially those who don’t want to be – but I’ll never let go of those core ideals.
“And ever since Sawyer became our pup son, #Superman and his dog #Krypto now hold a special significance,” the actor continued. “We saved his little cape from an earlier Halloween and every now and then we put it on him to remind him no matter how old he gets, he’s still invincible super Krypto boy. And he can live forever.
“May sound silly, but there are worse things to believe in, and hey, it seems to be workin’,” Huss wrote, adding an emoji of a smiling winky face, “the power of being @superman #happysupermanday everyone. @jamesgunn.”
“I take my hat off to you, Adam,” posted Elaine Erny on Huss’s Superman post. “You are a good man and one helluva actor! I just love Sawyer, too!! Your post is amazing, just like you!”
There’s a big soap opera connection between the Last Son of Krypton and soap operas. Superman and his alter-ego Clark Kent have been played twice by actors who’ve been on soap operas. Christopher Reeve (ex-Ben, Love of Life) took on the part for the first time in the 1978 blockbuster Superman. Then, Brandon Routh (ex-Seth, One Life to Live) continued the role in 2006’s Superman Returns.
