While Nikolas bides his time in Pentonville on General Hospital, his portrayer, Adam Huss, continues surging forth in various productions. He wants fans to check out his latest short film, which boasts more than your ordinary movie experience.
If you’ve ever watched a video on the ReelShort app, you probably wondered why they seem like they’re shot with a smartphone and are vertical, not horizontal, like a movie screen or modern television. That’s because the Chinese-owned service intended it for people who don’t want to watch a show that’s a half hour or longer on their phone. The app’s movies are about as short as a film promo, presented in a multiple-chapter style.
GH’s own Adam Huss, who took over the part of Nikolas when Marcus Coloma exited, has been promoting his new ReelShort film, Pregnant By My Ex’s Dad, and there’s a twist: you can choose what direction the characters take.
Huss took to Instagram recently to enthusiastically plug the movie, sharing a video clip and stills with the caption, “Crazy Maple Studio is quietly changing the streaming game with its ReelShort app. It was named one of @time magazine’s top 100 most influential companies. ReelShort puts out binge-worthy micro-dramas chopped into episodes generally running no longer than a movie trailer. And now they’re diving into the interactive #chooseyourownadventure realm!”
He was referring to the plentiful Choose Your Own Adventure book series by publisher Bantam Books, which has entertained readers for decades because of the ability to literally choose what decisions the characters make. Now, in convenient video form, Huss gushed about his project, remarking, “I loved those books as a kid and couldn’t resist doing a movie version! It was a fun challenge to play out all the different outcomes and then reset to the alternate choice! AND my character’s name is Sawyer?! No brainer.” Sawyer also just happens to be his dog’s name.
Huss continued in his post, “Not only that, but I got to play a tough as nails surgeon (think “House”) and be directed by the Uber talented (and super kind) @julianhiggins! And the cast and crew were stellar, my costar @redlips_rebel couldn’t be more lovely to fall in love with and brought it in every scene. Our DP and makeup team, and production team just rocked.”
The actor explained to fans where to find the app so they can enjoy this new-fangled way of watching videos. He also enthused, “The movie has a straight-outta-Lifetime title BUT trust me when I say, there’s a lot more depth than the title suggests. It’s filled with emotion, romance, drama (of course), steaminess and intrigue,” adding, “They took amazing care of us and with this production. To me, it’s all about the talented, driven and generous souls you meet that make a project worth it. And this one was full of ‘em! Check it out! Debuts today!”
We’re excited for Huss’ journey into this new realm of entertainment!
