The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing Team in a Drama Series goes to Days of our Lives. Other Writing Teams nominated in the same category include Beyond Salem (Peacock), General Hospital (ABC), and The Young and the Restless (CBS).

In a controversial year that found many residents of Salem possessed by the Devil, villains raised from the dead, characters kidnapped and drugged on DiMera Island, and shocking comebacks like a heavenly visit from fan-favorite Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) reappearance from captivity, DAYS writers have been shaking things up.

The Academy noticed and gave them a nod. Soap Hub congratulates the Days of our Lives Writing Team on taking home Daytime Emmy gold.

Daytime Emmy History

In 1972, the first daytime-themed Emmy Awards were handed out during the primetime ceremony, when The Doctors and General Hospital were nominated for Outstanding Achievement in a Daytime Drama — with The Doctors winning the first Best Show Daytime Emmy. Also at that same ceremony, Outstanding Achievement by an Individual in a Daytime Drama was awarded to Mary Fickett from All My Children.
