When news broke that General Hospital’s Michelle Stafford would be vacating her role as Nina in order to return to her previous part as Phyllis on The Young and the Restless, fans instantly began speculating on what would happen to Valentin’s wife, Sasha’s faux mother, everyone’s favorite shrieker.

Should Nina be killed off? Maybe Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is tired of being told how to do her job and snaps? Or maybe Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) wants a head start on her alleged inheritance?

Or should the part be recast? Almost 17,000 viewers weighed in.

New Faces
Get us a new Nina, 69% command! She’s too important in the current story — and to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) — to be knocked off… or sent back into another 20-year coma.

Gina Tognoni, the current Phyllis on YR is the obvious choice- – it wouldn’t be the first GH/YR switch-a-roo in recent years. Wondering where Patrick (Jason Thompson) is spending his time, these days? Check out Genoa City.

And if Sharon (Sharon Case; YR) is looking for missing husband, Dylan (Steve Burton), she should take a look in Port Charles. Oh yeah, and PC has a GC Billy, too.

But, there are other possibilities. Nina is a great part. Passionate, childlike, crazy…what actress wouldn’t jump at the chance to step into her shoes?

Say Good-Bye
Nina can go, 31% of you dismiss. You never quite understood what purpose she served in the first place. She was the long comatose of the ex-wife of a new character who it turned out had a past with another new character and was the secret father of a new character.

Silas is gone. (Though Michael Easton keeps turning up.) Kiki (Hayley Erin) is gone. Only Ava (Maura West) is still around. And she’s found her place on the canvas. She doesn’t need Nina. Neither do you. Neither does GH.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
