It’s been nearly three years since General Hospital (GH) legend Tony Geary walked off into a foggy pier and Luke said goodbye to Port Chuckles seemingly forever.
A year ago, it was nice to see he was living the life in Amsterdam, and now we know he’s doing so with Tracy, but will we ever see him in Port Charles again or is Luke Spencer gone to us forever.
According to the Soaps In Depth General Hospital 55th Anniversary Special, Geary wouldn’t rule out anything in life.
“I don’t rule anything out,” Geary told Soaps In Depth. “One of the things I’ve learned from being on the planet 70 years is to say ‘I don’t do this or I don’t do that’ just limits your options.
“I try to keep an open mind about everything. I don’t need to work, gratefully, so if I choose to do anything now, it will be for art, interest, love or as a favor for a friend. Not to have to make a living scratching and clawing your way to the top is such a relief.”
For now, Geary is living the life in Amsterdam just like Luke, but going it alone. He found the city during the 1990s and made it his second home. And like a true artist, he’s still learning, becoming fluent in Dutch a priority through classes.
“I love to learn new things. And the language of my adopted country is a joy to speak. It’s goofy and delightful, and it makes me smile.”
Of course, GH fans would love to see him pop up on their screens every once in a while. Port Charles is just not the same without Luke Spencer and neither is daytime television.
