Nelle’s getting her way more and more on General Hospital (GH). Her most recent score is an invitation to live in the Quartermaine home courtesy of Monica’s open heart. Not only does this get her into comfy digs, but she’s also getting under Carly’s skin!
It’s ironic that Carly (Laura Wright) is complaining about Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) actions since she herself was (is?) a big manipulator!
Both Carly and her mother Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) had their days as bad girls. They were redeemed. Isn’t it possible that the same could happen with Nelle?
“I don’t know,” Lanier responded when this question was posed to her at the recent General Hospital Convention fan event. “Redemption is really interesting to me. I don’t think you ever fully get redeemed. People are complex. I think there’s good and bad in Nelle. I’d like that to continue.”
Lanier is grateful for the support she’s received from her fellow actors and bosses at GH, who’ve taken her under their wing.
The actress specifically cited Wright as someone who’s been of help to her since joining the show. “Frank [Valentini, executive producer], too,” she adds. “I would not be able to do a soap opera without their support.”
Now that she’ll be living in the Q mansion, is Lanier looking to get her hooks into Michael’s (Chad Duell) trust fund — or at least swipe some expensive silverware when the staff isn’t looking?
“Money isn’t her end goal,” Lanier notes. “Raising her family with Michael is her goal. She’s never had that. Nelle is looking for that white picket fence life she never had, [a life] with Michael — and without Carly!”
Of course, Nelle might want to avoid spending too much time at the top of the staircase. Both Monica (when she was pregnant with A.J.) and Carly (who was also pregnant) took tumbles down those fateful stairs.
