Nathan and Maxie’s love story may have ended tragically, but it had some memorable General Hospital (GH) moments.
It started with the couple’s first encounter on New Year’s Eve 2013, when Nathan (Ryan Paevey) showed up to sublet Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) apartment, just as she was leaving town. When she returned home, he became her roomie and sparks started flying between them.
Here’s a look back at the Port Charles duo’s happiest moments.
Cuddling in Cuffs
When Nathan tried to arrest Maxie at a waterfront protest, they ended up handcuffed together. The duo raced home to look for the key that would free them, but couldn’t find it. They ended up falling asleep cuddling on the couch.
The next morning, they shared a tender moment, until Maxie’s duplicitous beau, Levi, interrupted.
A First Kiss
Maxie was about to be killed by Levi’s father, Peter, who wanted revenge against her parents, until Nathan swept in and shot him. Maxie returned the favor by stabbing Levi, when he lunged for Nathan. The double life-saving moment forced the duo to acknowledge their attraction, and they shared their first kiss.
Save the Date
Maxie agreed to go on a first date with Nathan, but got cold feet and reneged. Nathan offered to wait for her at Metro Court hoping she’d have a change of heart. With Lulu’s prodding, Maxie showed up. Nathan spoke French and told Maxie how stunning she looked, as they took their first step toward becoming a couple.
Charmed, I’m Sure
After officially moving in together, Nathan surprised Maxie with a special gift that looked like a ring box on Valentine’s Day. Maxie freaked thinking Nathan was about to propose.

The Proposal
Nathan popped the question to Maxie; then, tossed her a surprise engagement party at The Floating Rib among all their family and friends. There, he proposed again and presented Maxie with a ring, and she eagerly said, “Yes!”
I Do, Already
After their first wedding was foiled – Maxie got the flu; then, Nathan learned he was still married to Claudette – Nathan and Maxie finally wed on January 17, 2017. Nathan gifted his fashionista bride with a designer purse, a vintage necklace and, of course, handcuffs, while Maxie presented him with a baseball autographed by Derek Jeter.
Baby Makes Three
A shocked Maxie discovered she was pregnant, a totally unplanned move. After fretting over how to tell Nathan, she delivered the news and he was over the moon. The twosome looked forward to welcoming their first child.
