Monica Knows Why There’s Two Jasons On General Hospital (And So Do We)

Back in September, Soap Hub had the wild–yet not-so-wild idea–that both men calling themselves Jason Morgan on General Hospital (GH) are indeed Jason. They’re both not Jason Morgan though.

Of course there have always been two Jasons. Two completely different characters first played by Steve Burton and then played by Billy Miller. From the moment Miller took over the role, we saw another Jason inside there.

Jason Mind Meld
He truly seemed to be playing a hybrid of Jason Morgan and Jason Quartermaine–the latter being a character we last saw in 1996. That’s when he ‘died’ and Jason Morgan was born.

Whether it was Miller’s or GH’s intention to play a hybrid of both Jasons, it certainly works with the opportunity the soap found itself presented with this summer.

History’s Mysteries
Steve Burton wanted back on the show, the show wanted him, but it already had and has quite a popular Jason. So, why not make the absolute best use of history out there and bring us back the Jason we once knew–before he became an angry mob enforcer.

We speculated that rather than Jason Quartermaine waking up with no memories and a new personality, it was his twin. And Jason Q–well, who knows where he ended up? They were two different people. Not one person with brain damage, but two. Sure, that wasn’t the intention two decades ago, but it certainly works now.

Switched And Switched Back
Now, this can play out any number of ways, and it all goes back in GH history. We know Betsy Frank gave Drew to an orphanage in Port Charles when he was around three. We also know Heather was Jason’s guardian when he was around three. (See the video below.)

The little boy Betsy described sounds an awful lot like that sweet Jason that Alan and Monica raised. Perhaps Heather switched them out from the orphanage and raised the “real” Jason on her own, eventually giving up “Drew” to Alan and Monica.

That would certainly explain how an angry man who looked like Jason woke from that car accident. Being raised by Heather can do that to someone. Now, we’re not sure why or how they were switched back in 1996, but it’s entirely possible that’s exactly what happened.

A Primer
Let’s recap what we know since 2014. A man was frozen, yet woke and Robin recognized him as Jason Morgan and he sure had Jason’s memories then. Yet, he was hit by Ava’s car, woke with no memories, and a brand-new face. Within weeks, he was drawn to a plaque at GH with Alan’s name on it. (The father who raised him.)

A year later, a DNA test proved he was Jason Morgan, but he did NOT want that. The last thing he wanted to know was that he was a hit man for nearly 20 years because it’s not who he felt like inside–because he wasn’t. He was Jason Quartermaine, and had been missing all this time.

Flash forward to the past two months. Heather refuses to even see her son or answer any of his questions about the picture of his imaginary friend. Because she knows too much.

Then, last week, Franco read a paper and learned which Jason was which, saying aloud in shock that there are TWO Jasons. Monica also mentioned how she’s been closer to Jason the last two years than she was for two decades.

Then, there was today. She told the Jason with the new face he’d always be her son. Then, she learned about twins and it all made sense. She went to Alan’s crypt and told him they’re on the verge of a miracle. And we think they are–they have the son they raised back, and the son they never knew they had was there with them from 1996 on.

Two Jasons. Jason Quartermaine and Jason Morgan. That’s our story and we’re sticking with it till GH tells us otherwise. (And we don’t think they will.)
