As she prepares to leave General Hospital and tape her final scenes as Nina Reeves Cassadine, actress Michelle Stafford is finally opening up a bit about the exit — in her own unique way.
Stafford tweeted a thank you this weekend to GH fans who have been kind to her since word of her exit broke, as well as the news that Cynthia Watros would be taking over the role of Nina and begin taping in June.
Meanwhile, Stafford will be heading back to The Young and the Restless to reprise Phyllis Summers, a role she originated in 1994, and that Gina Tognoni has been playing since 2014.
“The gorgeous, beautiful comments I am getting from you #GH ‘ers. Thank you for your love and beauty! What a wonderful thing…Happiness and positivity. Thank you beauties. It means so much to me. Thank you,” Stafford tweeted.
Stafford has not said much about her surprise move from GH to YR since the soap world was rocked by the news two weeks ago. This weekend’s tweet was basically the first she’s said about it, giving fans a chance to respond and thank her for bringing Nina to life.
We know that Stafford will appear as Nina at least through the Nurses’ Ball next month, but by summer, Watros will be in the role.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
