The social media world was buzzing about a post by General Hospital megastar Maurice Benard.
Benard posted to Instagram with the following caption: “Hi, my name is Detective Alvarez can I see your drivers license, please?” He then shared again on his Twitter account.
Playing a cop would obviously be quite a departure. The actor, who has been playing mobster Sonny Corinthos since 1993 (with a brief break), was being a bit vague with the details. According to Soaps In Depth, “he’s listed as playing a cop in the cast of a new TV series called South Side, which also stars Method Man, Mike Epps, and ICE-T, among others.”
But Benard’s personal assistant, Melissa Heck, who goes by the Twitter handle of @MBtvNews — tweeted out the magazine’s story and added that it was, “Not exactly true… but it is a new project.”
Soap Hub reached out to both Heck and Benard for more information. Heck got back to us and shared, “Unfortunately we haven’t been given the green light to release more specific details at this time.” Soap Hub will be sure to get you all the details once they are available.
