Anthony Geary left General Hospital over three years ago, dramatically announcing his retirement, though he did make a cameo appearance – rocking some truly questionable hair – on Jane Elliot’s last day as Tracy.
Life went on in Port Charles. Son Lucky is still somewhere “escaping the darkness.” Daughter Lulu (Emme Rylan) is now a hot-shot reporter. Ethan is…somewhere. Grandson Aiden is having issues, possibly caused by granddaughter Charlotte.
As for the woman whose name once used to be said in the same breath as his, even by people who didn’t watch GH or any soap, Laura (Genie Francis)?
Well, she’s running for mayor, failing to rein in Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel), and, oh, yeah, is married to a psychopath (Jon Lindstrom) pretending to be his twin brother.
So, with all that going on, AND Luke and Laura’s would-be 37th anniversary coming up this weekend, do any of you want Luke back? Almost 6,000 voted on it.
Bring Him Back Alive
Luke IS GH, 76% of you insist (much to Sonny’s disappointment), and you still feel his absence. You miss his snark, you miss his nicknames, you even miss his incredibly large ego.
Luke and Laura may have run their course, but he wouldn’t have let his one-time Angel suffer. Luke would have figured out the Ryan/Kevin switch-a-roo and for that, if nothing else, Port Charles feels mighty empty.
Keep Out
Luke Who, 23% can barely summon up enough interest to ask. He may have been a hero back in the 1980s but, in this century, Luke was a misogynist, a criminal, and a deadbeat dad.
You might miss Luke 1.0 but you don’t miss the Luke who finally exited, still believing he was all that and a bag of (Ice Princess) chips.
Toward the end, all Luke could talk about was how trapped he felt all those years with Laura, being a husband, father, and law-abiding citizen. So go be whoever you want…somewhere else.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
