General Hospital was on the air for several decades before Luke and Laura put soap operas on the mainstream map.
Yet the show survived without Luke (Anthony Geary) once. Is it surviving without him now? Should Luke return to Port Charles? What over 4,000 had to say about the possibility:
A majority 60% of you is all for the comeback – as long as Tracy (and Elliot) is with him. The previous love of Luke’s life, Laura (Genie Francis) is happily married to Kevin (Jon Lindstrom). Other love interests like Anna (Finola Hughes), Felicia (Kristina Wagner), and Jackie (Kim Delaney) have their own drama going on.
But Luke needs to be kept in check. And if anyone can do it, it’s Tracy. Plus, the two of them are fun together. Love doesn’t have to be all moonlight and rose petals. It can be snarky. Not only does Tracy keep Luke in check – more or less – she also makes his antics bearable. He’s not really as fascinating as he seems to think he is. Not without Tracy, anyway.
And then there are the 40% of the audience who believe Luke would definitely make Laura’s life more interesting, not that new brothers aren’t interesting. However, you do not need him back for good. We’ve got Franco (Roger Howarth) to fill the improvising, tortured bad boy reformed rapist slot.
However, a visit every now and then might be fun. certainly not by the grandchildren he’s never given a damn about. And his sister Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) must miss him. But how often do we see her? For the most part, PC has moved on without Luke. Besides, we hear he was anti-mob back in the day. That is so twentieth century. These days, we embrace our criminals. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
