Lucky Come Home: The Case to Bring Jonathan Jackson Back to GH!

With the news out that ABC has cancelled the prime time musical drama “Nashville,” “General Hospital” fans everywhere now wonder if the loss of his other TV gig will bring “Nashville” star Jonathan Jackson back to Port Charles.

The last time we saw Lucky was last summer after he found Little Jake on Cassadine Island and returned him to Elizabeth. He then skipped town quickly after learning the man calling himself Jake Doe was actually Jason Morgan (Billy Miller), Little Jake’s biological father. However, that scenario never made much sense to us.

First, Lucky is Jake’s legal father, and the only father he knew before he was presumed dead and held captive by Helena (Constance Towers). Some fans even argue he’s the boy’s biological father, as viewers never actually saw the paternity results when Liz (Rebecca Herbst) couldn’t figure out if her pregnancy resulted from a one-night stand with Jason.

Lucky grieved Jake as if he were his own because he was his own–biology be damned. He introduced himself as Jake’s father last summer and then left Jason to take over that role.

Let’s also not forget that Lucky DOES have a biological son he’s basically abandoned. Little Aiden is indeed his, and it always surprised us that Lucky doesn’t want to be his full-time dad, even if he’s not with Elizabeth.

And, of course, there’s Elizabeth. Some argue that Lucky is the true love of her life. Indeed, the chemistry between Herbst and Jackson has been undeniable for 20 years. We fell in love with them as damaged teens in love, and with Liz now needing a real love interest, Lucky is the ideal choice.

Finally, we just want him back. We watched Jackson grow up before our eyes and he’s an integral part of the Port Charles canvas. He has built in connections already there between mother Laura, sister Lulu, brother Nikolas, and his aforementioned ex-wife and sons. Without Luke, we need a male Spencer to carry on the legacy. Lucky is the best choice and we want Jonathan Jackson back as that choice.
