Fans were devastated to learn beloved soap star Leslie Charleson would be replaced temporarily on General Hospital after an injury left her sidelined.
Charleson was walking her dog, Riley, earlier this week when the dog tripped her, injuring her leg and causing her to take a break from playing Monica for a while.
Due to scripts already written, the show was forced to replace her and and Patty McCormack will start appearing in the iconic role in May.
Co-stars and fans alike began expressing their well wishes for Charleson on social media as soon as the news broke, and now Charleson is giving thanks for all the love.
“I’m overwhelmed by all your comments and well wishes since my fall,” the actress tweeted.
“I’ll do my best to heal quickly because there’s nothing more I’d like to do than to get back on my horse and back in the Quartermaine living room! My love and thanks to you all!”
Charleson has played Dr. Monica Quartermaine for more than 40 years and is a mainstay on the show.
Soap Hub wishes Charleson a speedy recovery so she can indeed be back on the Quartermaine living room soon. Remember, it IS Monica’s house.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
