Thanks to a freak accident this morning involving Leslie Charleson and a dog, Monica will soon have a new face on General Hospital.
The show tweeted the news that Charleson was walking her dog, Riley Rose, and the pooch was a little too anxious to get out, tripping the actress and leading to a serious leg injury that will sideline her indefinitely.
Due to scripts already written in which Monica plays a pivotal role, the soap has decided she will have to be replaced temporarily.
Charleson has played Monica continuously since 1977 and is one of the most beloved actresses on the show. Monica is still a prominent Port Charles citizen and the chief of staff at the hospital.
She’s also regularly involved with stories involving her grandkids, as well as her son, Jason, who recently returned to town.
GH says the actress sends her love and will be back on the set when she is well.
Soap Hub wishes the actress a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing her on screen again soon.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
