Key Takeaways

  • Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are returning for the Romy and Michele sequel.
  • The movie will feature a mix of original cast members and new faces.
  • Kimberly McCullough, who played Robin Scorpio-Drake, has also joined the movie.

Behind Kimberly McCullough’s New Role

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report that the sequel is already in production. Tim Federle will serve as director. He created High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+. On the series, GH alum Kimberly McCullough worked as both director and executive producer. In fact, McCullough has recently been focusing on her work behind the scenes. But this move puts her back in front of the camera.

In a recent Instagram post, McCullough congratulated Federle, teasing that they will be working together again. “Congratulations, Tim Federle!!! Honored and excited to be by your side once again, creating something truly special,” McCullough wrote.

The former soap star shared her connection to the Romy and Michele original movie. McCullough continued, “It’s also not lost on me that the song Romy and Michele dance to in the original is my song for Jack 🐾 . I can’t help but think he might be behind the scenes doing a little bit of his magic. 🪄”

In the original movie, Romy and Michele perform an iconic dance to the hit song “Time after Time” by Cyndi Lauper. That moment reminds McCullough of her dog, Jack, who just passed away.
