It’s going to be a blast from the 1980s past for ABC soap fans when former All My Children star Kim Delaney returns to daytime as long-ago General Hospital character Jackie Templeton.
Kim Delaney Takes Us Back To The ’80s
As longtime fans will recall, film star Demi Moore originated the role of intrepid reporter Jackie Templeton and played her from 1982 to 1984. She was involved with both Luke (Tony Geary) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) as she searched for her sister, Laura Templeton.
Rogers broke the news in a cameo video and it was first reported in Soap Opera News. He also said the story with Holly is going on the backburner for now.
Many minds flashed to Jackie when Lulu (Emme Rylan) told Peter she wanted to connect with an experienced reporter from the West Coast. While we never knew what happened to Jackie, we can just assume she kept on trying to get the truth out as journalists are trained to do.
Delaney is another a blast from the ABC daytime past as she played Jenny Gardner on All My Children from 1981 to 1984. Jenny and Greg (Laurence Lau) endured a torturous romance that seemed to have a happy ending when they finally wed. Sadly, a jet ski explosion killed Jenny when the newlyweds were vacationing.
Jenny was Tad Martin’s little sister and as we know, Michael E. Knight who played Tad, is now on GH playing Martin Grey, a smarmy lawyer who reminds us so much of Tad, but this would be a Tad with a southern accent. It will be quite a reunion when we see Knight and Delaney together on screen.
Rumors are also flying that Jackie will end up being Chase’s (Josh Swickard) mother, who was involved with Finn (Michael Easton) before she married his father. If this rumor is true, it should make things more complicated for the brothers, as well as Finn’s romance with Anna (Finola Hughes). Imagine even more complications if Hayden (Rebecca Budig) returns to town. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
